Two firsts in one night: the first Lab Night held on our own Discord server instead of a video call, and the announcement of our settled founding values.
After weeks of proposal, amendment, and one honest reversal, the triad: Curiosity, because it generates questions and a desire for understanding. Agency, because with more knowledge we increase our degrees of freedom and our ability to act powerfully toward our goals. Compassion, because we recognize how complicated and difficult this is; it is through compassion that we support each other, give feedback, laugh together, and stay human. First-principle values, with others developing as consequences.
The membership story reached a milestone too: our first genuinely inbound member, who found us through the introductions channel rather than a personal invitation. He demoed a platform he had built essentially alone in five months, more than two million lines of code orchestrating fleets of AI agents that manage, plan, test, and debug each other. The discussion it triggered, about brain-computer interfaces and what higher-bandwidth communication does to groups, produced the speculation of the night: better coordination may eventually mean coordinating without delegating authority, without giving up freedom.
Housekeeping that matters: with more people coming, presenters will pre-announce their topics and get priority; and the decision was made to open the Collective to the public, expecting the announcement to bring a wave of new members.
